An interview with Peter Toh, the Executive and Artistic Director of Music Africa Canada, the parent company of Afrofest, the largest free African Music Festival in North America. We speak about the festival's history, its driving mission, and why Music Africa has an important role to play in supporting Pan-African artists and the community at large.

Peter Toh is the Executive and Artistic Director of Music Africa Canada, the parent company of Afrofest, the largest free African Music Festival in North America.

This year's Afrofest is currently underway, running from July 16th to 25th. Marking its 33rd anniversary, the 2021 edition is the second consecutive virtual edition of the festival, showcasing 25 artists from 20 different African and diaspora countries.

As a marquee celebration of African culture, the Music Africa Team has risen to current unprecedented times by programming a multi-dimensional, immersive festival experience to ensure that audiences can enjoy maximum AFROFEST 2021 exposure.

Peter is an entrepreneur, business consultant, and cultural connector who has worked with multiple organizations, including The Federal Government of Canada, Ryerson University, Rogers Communication and currently with Music Africa of Canada Inc.

An MBA graduate from Ryerson University and a Certified Financial Planner from Humber College, Peter has used his educational background to benefit various not-for-profit organizations.

He mentors numerous artists around the world and has worked as a Board member and radio host at CKDU FM—Halifax and CKLN FM—Toronto, promoting African music and culture through radio and community events.
